Illamasqua Pink Raindrops - Swatches and Review

It's FRIDAY!!! Today I have the latest polish from Illamasqua to show you. Pink Raindrops.

PINK, you say? Well, yes. If you recall the original Raindrops, it was very popular and discontinued and has recently been brought back, along with Pink Raindrops, which is being touted as the "pink version" of Raindrops. Well before you get your hopes up, it's NOT. The formula is much different. I don't have the "new" Raindrops to tell if they've changed the formula, but you can see my original post on Raindrops here - the old version. It was at the least a very crelly 3-coater, if not more. I layered it over Zoya Dove for that post actually, because it was so sheer. I wore it alone on shorter nails.

Pink Raindrops is very opaque - it might even be a one-coater for some but I used two light coats. The formula is quite a bit thicker and it's not self-leveling at all, so extra care has to be taken for application. It's not the same perfect formula I've grown so used to with Illamasqua polishes. It does have those lovely flakes though! It's more of a nude with pink shimmer rather than a pink in my opinion.  Most of the photos are without top coat so you could see the true finish of the polish. The last photo shows it with one coat of Poshe top coat.

What do you think? Will you be getting it? Or do you have it already?

Illamasqua polishes can be purchased at the Illamasqua website here and some select shades are available in the US at Sephora stores. Pink Raindrops wasn't to come to Sephora however I have heard news that it probably will be now, so keep checking with them.

HARE Polish - Return to Nature

Tonight I have one of the new HARE Polish's Jelly Shades Set - The Last Queen of France: Spring Collection 2013. Return to Nature. Over the next week, I'll be showing you 3 more of the polishes in this 2-part collection!

Return to Nature is described as "a beige/khaki crelly (creme-jelly) with a mixture of small gold and silver glitters, plus a dusting of small white squares. This shade also features gold shimmer."

I personally have always liked nude polishes, but it's difficult to find one that suits my pale skin. The addition of glitters and shimmer make it very wearable for me. I used 2 coats for opacity and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos. I had no issues with formula or application. All the glitters were suspended well and spread nicely and evenly on the nail with no fuss.

The New Professional Nail Polish Neutral from Zoya

Press Release

The New Professional Nail Polish Neutral from Zoya!

“Work Appropriate” nail polish doesn’t have to be boring.

Get to work with the best neutral nail polish: Zoya Godiva

We all know that “work appropriate” fashion and beauty office guidelines vary greatly from company to company depending on the business at hand. And fingernails are often viewed as best covered in clear nail polish, just buffed or a worn in classic French Manicure to error on the side of humdrum and boring but safe in some environments...

Zoya Pixie Dust Godiva

Zoya PixieDustTM in Godiva solves this common workplace dilemma with a neutral nail polish color option that is modern, soft and stylish and works as well in the classroom, boardroom and courtroom as it does at a red-carpet movie premieres.
Here’s why... the textured, matte nude nail polish Godiva is beautifully buildable from semi-sheer as a single coat to full-coverage in just two coats, depending on your personal color intensity preference. No matter what, the look is always that of impeccably groomed and modest with just enough sparkle to keep things feminine (and a dare we say a bit sexy too - work it girl!).

The unexpected and huge bonus to Zoya’s PixieDustTM Godiva formulation is that the color dries quickly, requires no base or top coats and is long wearing - which saves precious time for busy professional women (and Mom’s) who always want and need to look their best in a variety of professional situations.

INSIDER PRO MANICURE TIP: If you would like to customize Godiva to perfectly match your skin tone, it’s easy. Simply add a drop or two of another Zoya PixieDustTM color, usually Chyna, as desired to the bottle and blend by gently stirring the two shades together. Wearing the color as a semi-sheer single coat also allows your natural skin tone to show through for subtle “naked nail” look that works beautifully with any light or dark skin pigmentation.

See the “Zoya How to apply Zoya PixieDustTM Video” for more great beauty tips and tricks to use when applying Zoya PixieDustTM.

Maya Cosmetics - Turbo Classy

I'm telling you - when Maya gets it right, it's darned near perfection in a bottle. The one I have to show you today is one of those for sure. The formula and application is perfect. And those of you who know me know I love these types of shades.

So...it's called Turbo Classy and I think that's a great name for it. Turbo Classy is described by the maker as a nude with silver shimmer and brown-to-pink micro flakes. Spot-on. As I said, the formula and application were perfect and it dries to a great semi-gloss finish. I prefer this finish but for a super high shine, you can add a top coat. For the photos, I didn't use a top coat so you could see it in all its glory. I used two light coats, but if you used one medium coat, it's a one-coater.

What do you think of this one? It's a very classy and understated color and if you apply a medium coat it can be a one-coater! What prompts me to rave about formula and application is if I can do my nails in less than 5 minutes out the door with no clean up. This one fits the bill.

Maya Cosmetics polishes can be purchased from their shop here and be sure and follow them on Facebook here and Twitter here to stay up-to-date on restocks, availability, new releases, etc. Also be sure to check out their blog for more information and swatches.

Above the Curve - Mother Earth

Holy HOLO Batman! How about one from Above the Curve? Mother Earth!

*$1 of every bottle sold goes to Shriner's Hospital for Children!*

Mother Earth is a stunning sand-colored holo that flashes the greatest mix of spring colors. Above the Curve describes it as follows: Mother Earth is a nude/tan holo with flecks of red, copper and brown. It is quite unique and hard to describe.

Two coats no top coat for the photos...

It was hard to get to lighting where the holo didn't show...this is the best I could do. Daylight-shade.

Nails Inc. Lower Sloane Street - Swatches and Review

Good evening! Tonight I have a quick and dirty post for you. Nails Inc. cremes are so awesome so there's not much to say as far as formula or actually "reviewing" it. They go on smoothly, evenly and reach opacity in two coats.

Tonight is Lower Sloane Street. This one is going to be one of those polish colors that is vastly different on everyone, depending on the skin tone. I am VERY pale. So while this would read as a warm nude on most people, it reads a bit darker on me. It's still a perfect neutral and I think it's not TOO warm that a cool-toned person can't wear it.

Two coats, NO top coat...

What do you think of this one? It's a great neutral and a great "palette cleanser."

Nails Inc. polishes are available in limited colors in the US at Sephora.com and a few other e-tailers. Unfortunately, the NailsInc.com site in the UK doesn't ship to the US...yet. Thankfully I have a few friends in the UK. =)

Glitter Gal 3D Holographic Nude - Swatches and Review

Last night I showed you La Femme Unica and then I used it as a base for Glitter Gal 3D Holographic Nude and I love it!

Glitter Gal 3D Holographic Nude can be worn alone with 2 - 3 coats, but I tend to layer the more sheer holos so that I have NO VNL (visible nail line.) This one went on beautifully and I used one coat over Unica. with one coat of Poshe. As you can see, it didn't diminish the holo at all.

Tip Top Nails

Happy Monday! This morning I have 4 polishes from Tip Top Nails to show you from their new line Nail Addict.

Tip Top Nails is a South African brand that I hope will be offered soon by a US distributor. For now, they are only available through Tip Top's website. Tip Top Nails' Nail Addict and treatments are toxin free and are FREE of:  Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP (Dibuthyl Phthalate) & Camphor. AND they are a Cruelty Free Brand!

The ones I'll be showing you today are Clockwork Orange, Envy, Let Me Be and Oh So Natural.

I found all 4 of these to be highly pigmented and very smooth and easy in formula and application. All photos are with no top coat so you can see that they dry to a high shine.

First up, Clockwork Orange. This one is just wow. Clockwork Orange is a bright orange creme that is almost neon in appearance. Two coats for full opacity. I had no issues with it at all and the application was really great.

Envy is a teal creme with a lovely blue shimmer. Same formula and application as Clockwork Orange - creamy and smooth and opaque in 2 coats. No issues at all.

Let Me Be is a medium pink creme. Classic. Same as the other - easy application and creamy formula. Two coats for full opacity but I did need to use a light 3rd coat to even it out.

Finally, I have Oh So Natural. This one is a pinky-peach toned nude with a golden shimmer. I expected it to be more sheer and  to get streaky application and brush marks but I was pleasantly surprised. The application was great - same as the others. Two coats for full opacity.

What do you think of these? I love that they're so dedicated to the toxin-free, cruelty-free aspects. My favorite of these 4 was Clockwork Orange. It's so bright and cheerful! And I like that it's dark enough not to be "only" a summer color. Although, that shimmer in Envy is pretty awesome.

These are not yet available in the US, but they are working on a distributor for here as I write this! You can check out their website here and also follow them on Facebook page for photos, updates, availability and other information. If you would like to purchase directly from their site, the polishes are VERY reasonable, but the shipping is a little steep at the moment...you can contact Joan at info@tiptopnails.co.za.
