Zoya Demi, Audrina, Rica and Jancyn and an I Told You So!

I've said multiple times that I SUCK at nail art. That includes even the simplest things. In my best Yoda voice: Proof I offer you.

Not really sure how anyone can mess up a half moon mani USING GUIDES, but I did it!

I am going to show you though because I used fabulous colors!

First I applied one coat of Zoya Rica, part of Zoya's Sunshine Collection for Summer 2011. It's a great pinky orange coral with coral shimmer  and it is fully opaque in two coats, but since I was covering most of it, I only applied one so it would dry more quickly.  My nails are really stained from my base coat tests I've been doing and they look dirty, but they're NOT! With two coats, it looks just like the bottle and reminds me of a juicy orange!

Then I carefully applied the hole reinforcements as guides.

So far so good, right?

Then I layered on Zoya Jancyn, part of their 2010 Flash Collection, which is a creamy bright orange, also fully opaque in two coats.

I actually loved the color combination, but my OCD couldn't take how crooked it was. I saw every mistake.

So I decided to give it one last try with two cremes.

Zoya Audrina for the half moon and Zoya Demi for the main color. Demi, from the Dare part of Zoya's Truth or Dare Collection for Spring 2009, is a fantastic medium purple creme, opaque in two smooth coats. It's one of those hard-to-photograph purples though. It's a bit dustier and a deeper purple in real life than it photographs.

As you can see, my technique didn't improve much with the second try, but aren't the colors GORGEOUS?

Zoya Audrina - Swatches and Review

Zoya Audrina came out as a part of the Gossip Collection for Spring (or Summer?) 2008 and I can't believe I missed it! But no longer. Audrina will have a prominent place in my rotation now, in spite of the fact that I've still not seen one episode of The Hills.

As with most of Zoya's unique colors, it's a bit hard for me to describe. Is it pink? Purple? I think I'm going to go with a pinkish purple creme and call it a day. Most pinks don't like me, while purples do and because this one seems to like me, purple it is! The photos speak for themselves.

This one was a bit thinner than the other Zoyas I've tried so far so I was not hopeful for it to be a one-coater, but it was! These photos are one coat and, as usual, no topcoat.

I love Audrina and think it's a gorgeous color. I'm also always pleased when I see a Zoya polish that I like, the likelihood of obtaining it is good. They don't just discontinue colors all willy-nilly like some companies do. This was from 2008 and sure enough, when I went to the site, there it was. I love that.

Zoya polishes are available at select Ulta stores and on Zoya's site and they retail for US $8.00.
