Nails Inc. Chalk Farm - Swatches & Review & Some Lynnderellas for Kicks

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

As I mentioned yesterday in my post on Holland Park Road, recently I've fallen in love with Nails Inc. polishes. I've reviewed several here already and have a TON more to do because once I got started, I couldn't stop! The formula is consistent, which is a huge plus for me. I like to know what to expect. Consistently good, I might add. I especially love their cremes. I've yet to get a Nails Inc. creme that doesn't have a smooth formula, easy application and opacity in 2 coats.

Nails Inc. Chalk Farm was no surprise, formula-wise. Perfect. The color, however, was a bit of a surprise! It's the perfect periwinkle! You wouldn't think the perfect periwinkle shade would be so hard to find, but it was for me. VERY happy with Chalk Farm!  Photos are with two thins coats and no top coat. Afterwards, I played around a little with a few Lynnderellas.

My favorites over Chalk Farm are Bride of Franken because it's lovely and subtle. I ended up going with that one over all the nails in the end. I also liked Connect the Dots. But what doesn't CtD look good over?

A limited selection of Nails Inc polishes are available through Amazon.com or Sephora.com for around $9.50 in the US and the entire line is available through Nails Inc's own site nailsinc.com for around £11.00.  Lynnderella polishes are available exclusively through the WishList with Llarowe. Go to the site and sign up to be notified when they are accepting WishLists again and "like" her on Facebook for updates. Lynnderellas retail for $15 each.

W.I.C. by Herôme Aalborg - Swatches and Review

Day Three of W.I.C. Week is here! To see days one and two click the links: Frederiksberg and Edinburgh! You'll find company and ordering information for W.I.C. by Herôme and links in the Edinburgh post.

Today I have Aalborg for you. This one is probably my favorite just because it's a straight creme in that murky, olive green color that I adore so much! Olive green creme? Perfection!

W.I.C. by Herôme Aalborg

I used two coats of Aalborg, although it could probably be a one-coater like the others so far. It applied smoothly and evenly and I had no issues. Photos are without top coat.

And of course I had to see what Lynnderella Connect the Dots looked like over this one too. I added topcoat to this one of course.

What do you think about this one? I know this type of green isn't for everyone, but it's my absolute FAVORITE type of green. ♥ ♥ ♥

Mid-Century Modern - Starring Chanel Nouvelle Vague and Lynnderella Connect the Dots

This one is a bit out of my comfort zone, but it's a blue AND a "glitter" so I'd say I'm making great strides. LOL!

I took my inspiration from my kitchen table we had when I was a kid. Some of you may remember back that far...formica top with aluminium edging. It was aqua with black and white speckles or a "splatter" design. I think it was a "step down" from the boomerang designs. Of course I couldn't find a photo.

But I did find this one that gives me that same "feel."

I think I actually HAD that pencil sharpener.

Chanel Nouvelle Vague, Summer 2010, is an aqua creme with subtle shimmer that applied well and was opaque in two coats. I had no issues with this one at all.

Connect the Dots is one of Lynnderella's highly-coveted hand-created "glitter" polishes. Not being much of a glitter person, seeing such a unique one, and in black and white no less, practically had me drooling. Plus, being only black and white, it goes well over almost any color creme polish. It has bar glitter, large hex, medium hex, medium round, small round, medium square, small square and a great shimmer - all black and white and in a clear base. WOW!

Put them together and what do you get?  Mid-Century Modern!

First, here's Chanel Nouvelle Vague on it's own. Two coats, no top coat. Check out the subtle shimmer in the close-up!

And with Lynnderella Connect the Dots. Check out the shimmer in the clear base on THAT baby. This is two coats of Nouvelle Vague with one coat of Connect the Dots and Seche Vite top coat.

Does it "take you back" like it does me? What do you think?

Not sure where you'd get Nouvelle Vague now (not part of Chanel's permanent collection) but Lynnderella polishes are available exclusively through llarowe.com now. See the site for ordering details.

Lynnderella Connect the Dots! (the answer to: What Glitter Can Reform a Glitter-Hater?)

Yeah, yeah...I know. And I am still not a fan of a lot of glitters. I like flakies, glass fleck, shimmer, micro-glitter and a lot of other finishes (even though creme is still my favorite finish) but haven't ever been a fan of chunky, in-your-face, rough-feeling glitter bombs.

But just LOOK AT THIS!!!

Connect The Dots

Lynnderella Connect the Dots would melt the heart of the staunchest glitter-hater, right?

With that said, though, I'm still not a fan of chunky glitter-bombs. It took this special, "classy" bottle of goodness to snag me. Yes, I called a glitter classy. What?

I started with the idea that I would wade slowly into the glitter-pond with an accent nail. So I started with Revlon Colorstay Spanish Moss as a base.

Added Connect the Dots to the ring finger and ended up with this...

But how do you stop there??? I decided to go full-bore.

I tried to snag this polish from Llarowe and  just missed it. A dear friend knew how badly I was wanting it and sent her bottle to me she'd gotten back when Lynn was selling them herself. How exactly do you "return the favor" for a gift like THAT?  We actually did a trade, but I'm positive I got the better end of that trade!

I was pretty surprised that I didn't feel the need to "arrange" the glitter pieces on my nails. That's what I was most worried about. But it's SO random that it almost seems orderly. And I didn't even realize it had the shimmer.  LOVE! ♥

Connect the Dots, as well as the rest of the Lynnderella collection, can be purchased through Leah Ann at Llarowe. Currently, the stock is limited, but "like" Llarowe's Facebook page or sign up for emails on the website and you will be kept up-to-date on availability. Leah Ann ROCKS.
