Layla Gel Effect No. 05 Coral Red

Press Sample
*This product is Cruelty Free

Tonight I have one of the Layla Gel Effect polishes to show you - 05 Coral Red.

Their Gel Effect line is meant to provide similar results to a gel manicure without the UV lamp. Which means it should stay shiny and "chipless" for quite some time. Because generally I change polish daily I had to make a concerted effort to wear test this one but thankfully it is pretty and bright, so I was able to resist the urge to change my manicure for 4 whole days! And truthfully, it could have gone longer. I only had slight tip wear and no chips at all after 4 days. Pretty sure it would have made it to at least 7 days if I could have. Also, I have slight ridges and it filled them without a base coat. (I rarely wear a base coat, which is probably a big no-no.)

The application and formula were both great and I had no issues at all. I did wrap the tips and use one coat of Poshe since I knew I'd be wearing it for more than a day. It went on like a crelly but was opaque in two coats. The bright coral-leaning red color really pops.

Removal was the same as any regular nail polish.

Lots of New Lines of Polishes Lately...

No new swatches or manicures. I am wearing Chanel Dragon, so just picture it. LOL!

I did have to go to the grocery store this evening though and saw three new lines of polishes...one Revlon and 2 Sally Hansen.  Of course I didn't pick up any of the Sally Hansens because even though it's not January 1st yet, I've gone Cruelty-Free. And they're not on the list.

But I did take some stealth, albeit crappy, 'Droid pics of the displays...

The Revlon one is called Colorstay and is tauting a "gel-like" finish. From what I could gather, they do have some UV-sensitive elements. The colors look FAB and I only saw one that was a recycled prior color and that was Stormy. But I didn't inspect each one of them. They're definitely NOT the line with Whimsical, Scandalous, etc. - totally different bottles.

I also snapped the SH displays quickly.  Looks like the first one (square bottles) is all pastels and is called Smooth Perfect and the second one is of weirdly shaped, beveled bottles that is their new line of "Diamond Strength" polishes. They were both right next to the Gems display.

Well, I've got a cake in the oven...just wanted to show you what's new in South Texas stores. I really do think they're new for the US, though they may have been released in Canada earlier. First time I'm seeing them though.
