Darling Diva Polish
Hug My Face Collection (aka The Alien Collection)

Hi everyone! I'm a little late with this collection - still playing "catch-up" with everything. But holy COW you guys! I think she named one of these incorrectly - even if my name doesn't fit with the theme, with is the movie Alien. I think it should be called "Drops Mic, Walks Away" - see if you can guess which one!

There are nine of these so I have a ton of photos. Drag up a chair.

Full swatches and review after the jump...

Since there are nine, I'm just going to do them alphabetically. I used 2 coats of polish and one coat of top coat for each one of them.

A-ffirmative - this one is a bright blue with a scattered holo and pink shimmer. You can see the shimmer best in the 2nd photo - it was shy but it's definitely there. No issues with formula or application.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Bad Ass - this one is, well, bad-ass! I'm sorry my camera got a little cross-eyed with this one. The holo is intense. It's a black and the holo is the 'tightly scattered" metalure holo, which is my favorite type of holo! As you can see in the sunlight photos, it warms up in the sun, so with the cool of artificial lighting and the warmth of direct sun, I think this one will go with any skin tone. Perfect formula and application. Very creamy and smooth.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did IQs Just Drop Sharply While I Was Away - this one is a black crelly base full of red shimmer. So much that it appears brown to the eye when the light catches the shimmer. We also have holo micro-glitter and shimmer along with violet flakes. Nicely opaque in 2 coats. No issues with formula or application.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Game Over, Man - this one is red. Red. No seriously, it's RED! Candy red. Cherry red crelly filled with red and silver micro-glitters and  I can't tell if there are holo or translucent shards/flakes or if it's holo glass fleck? Perfect opacity in 2 coats for me, but I have a heavy hand so you might need 3. I have a pretty difficult free edge to cover though so maybe not. Perfection in every way.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have You Ever Been Mistaken for a Man - this one is a red-toned purple linear holo. Creamy and smooth. So much so it practically applies itself. No issues at all. The sunlight photos are the most color-accurate.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Space  No One Can Hear You Scream - this one is a black crelly base with holographic shards/flakes, iridescent/holo shimmer and blue metallic glitter. I didn't have any issues with this one either but I do think you might need a 2nd coat of top coat for a perfectly smooth finish.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Long Live the Queen - this one is a very deep blue-leaning teal linear holo with multi-chrome flakes. I think I also see a golden flash/shimmer.  Smooth and easy formula. No issues at all.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mother - this one is a silvery white holo. I really thought I wouldn't like this one. At all. But look at it! It's still not the best shade with my skin tone, but I love that it has a dove grey appearance instead of most that just look silver once the holo is added. I think it's magic or something! No issues with formula or application.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Xenomorph - this one is a blackened deep forest green jelly base with blue and green shards/flakes and color-shifting micro-glitter. I'll go ahead and admit I didn't love this one. I'm not the most proficient at applying jellies and I only used 2 coats instead of the three I'm going to recommend. The formula was a bit thicker than I am used to in a jelly polish. It really is pretty and it's likely "user error." It did smooth out nicely and shine like everything with just one coat of top coat though. Very squishy.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And that makes nine! What did you think? Do you have any of these yet? Favorites? Did you guess which one I thought should be named "Drops Mic?" If you guessed Game Over, Man, you were right! You just can't even believe, even with the sunlight photos, how gorgeous this one is. That one and Bad Ass were my 2 favorites.

  1. Holy crap on a cracker that collection is a lesson, some folks just got schooled! I am aghast at that red, and really love Mother and Did IQs Just Drop Sharply While I Was Away, too. Man. Just man.

  2. Does the red one remove like a glitter polish? Gorgeous!

  3. Sheila, would you be willing to comment on how similar "Did IQs Drop" is to Elevation's "Saif al Jabbar"? both seem to be black holos with loads of coppery red shimmer, with the only difference i can see being the flakies here? thanks!

    1. Hi Michelle - I think they're quite different myself - just because of how differently they do on and build up and the flakes vs the type of holo etc. I just did a comparison for you - I'll post it on my Facebook page. :)
