Hitting the Pause Button

♥

Hi everyone! Didya miss me? I'm still around but some of you who have been around a long time may have noticed that I'm not posting as much as I used to. Like by at least half - maybe even 3/4ths.

And I'm more stressed than when I was posting a lot. That's me - always bassackwards.

So...I've come to the decision that I need a blogging hiatus. At least a semi-hiatus. I will still be doing The Digital Dozen and I may pop in randomly with a silly post or a rant or Bits and Bobs now and then if I have time. And I have some polish collections already swatched that I'm so behind on that I will be posting for you. So I'm not completely running away.

But I've got a lot of personal stuff going on right now in my life and I feel that until I get that settled, I can't really be here for you guys.

This is me right now.

So please don't forget me! I'll be back when I get my personal ducks in a row. And if they continue to give me trouble, I may pick them off with a BB gun one by one! Duck Soup!

Catch me on Instagram in the mean time - I'll be posting there more while the blog is on hiatus.

I appreciate all of you SO MUCH and thanks for being here with me all this time. ♥

Until later...

XOXO
Sheila

The Digit-al Dozen Pattern on Pattern: Day 5 Diagonal Floral Stamping and the "Rest"

This post contains:
and
Purchased by Me items

Day 5 of Digit-al Dozen Week!! The theme for this month is Pattern on Pattern. So for the final day I did a diagonal stamping mani. And of course it's also the day I show you what didn't make the cut. In this case, there's one that didn't make the cut and one I was too dumb to use for the prompt because it was perfect!

The Digit-al Dozen Pattern on Pattern

For this mani I did a diagonal using Nails Inc. Belgrave Place (purchased by me) and Zoya Eden (swatches here - sent for review).  Then I used DRK-A plate for the flowers, using the same colors in reverse. Finally, I finished up with a coat of Zoya Matte Velvet Top Coat (purchased by me).

And the fail...

I used Zoya Taylor and Barry M 293 Grey and a sponge to make the mottled effect and did freehand criss-cross lines (like you'd do for an Argyle Mani) - with a coat of Zoya Matte Velvet Top Coat. I think it just didn't seem "finished" and I'd lost my mojo lol!

And this is the one I posted without thinking it would be perfect for the theme!

Check out the details in my post here.

Thanks for checking in! Be sure to check the links below to see what creations the other lovelies in The Digit-al Dozen have for you - and we'll see you next month!

Nail of the Day: Spiral Nail Art with KBShimmer Swirls Nail Vinyl Decals

Just another quick Nail of the Day post with a short review on the KBShimmer Swirls nail vinyls...

For this manicure I used KBShimmer Honeydew List and China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy. On the thumb, ring and pinkie I did a simple toothpick marble. After they were dry, I used the KBShimmer Swirls nail vinyl decals as stencils, making sure to place them with part hanging over the edge of the nail so I would have a way to remove them. I covered with one coat of KBShimmer Eclipse and then removed the swirls with tweezers. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top for the top coat and BAM - cool, easy nail art!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had no issues at all with using the vinyl decals - super easy and fool-proof. Protip: Don't try to use them without leaving part hanging off the nail or you won't be able to grab to remove.

For $5, you receive 3 different style spirals and swirls in two sizes, 64 pieces per sheet.

You can purchase these at the KBShimmer shop hereYou can also check out the KBShimmer blog here and follow along on Facebook here and Instagram here.

The Digit-al Dozen Pattern on Pattern: Day 4 Doctor Who on Stripes

This post contains:
and
Purchased by Me items

Day 4 of Digit-al Dozen Week!! The theme for this month is Pattern on Pattern. So for today's mani I have Doctor Who over some freehand stripes

The Digit-al Dozen Pattern on Pattern

For this mani I used my (then) current manicure (so this is sort of an Extend-A-Mani!) of Elevation Polish Shilin Stone Forest (swatches here - sent for review) and did stripes in black, white and Picture Polish Eyre. Photo of the base alone below. Then I used some Doctor Who-themed water decals from Etsy. The decals are great but I really didn't consider their transparency and what that would mean over stripes LOL!

The Digit-al Dozen: Pattern on Pattern Day 2 Easter Pastel Nail Art

This post contains:
and
Purchased by Me items

Day 2 of Digit-al Dozen Week!! The theme for this month is Pattern on Pattern. So for today's mani I have a cutesy Easter-themed design with freehand scrolls and some stamping.

The Digit-al Dozen: Pattern on Pattern

Easter-Pastel-Nail-Art

For this mani I started with spring pastel skittles: Zoya Blu, Neely and Kitridge and Elevation Polish Mount Ventoux (all sent for review). I then did some quick freehand scrolls with white acrylic paint. (Shown below pre-stamping. For the stamping I used Nails Inc. Belgrave Place (purchased by me) and 2 stamping plates: BM-302 for the mushroom and bunny and Nailways "Spring Time-Flowers" for the little flowers and butterflies. I finished off with a coat of Zoya Matte Velvet Top Coat (purchased by me).

Again, not dead chuffed about my stamping, but it's better than many other previous attempts!

Nail of the Day: Fancy Gloss Camo Home with Me

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Happy NOT MONDAY! I just have a quick Nail of the Day post today - sort of a "drop and run" - but this polish is so pretty I had to show you.

Fancy Gloss
Camo Home with Me

Camo Home with Me is like the forest green version of Frozen Berries, which took my top spot/favorite for 2014. Perfect formula and application - nearly a one-coater but I used two coats and one coat of top coat for the photos. Nice holo, well-pigmented.

I LOVE this one. And I think it's a green that will be wearable for most skin tones. Greens are harder than some colors, but this shade and the pigmentation combined with the holo really helps.

The Fancy Gloss site is open now with a few shades still in stock and lots of cute plates. If you missed their pre-order Sunday, what IS out of stock is stocking today at the Llarowe re-stock at 12 noon (mountain time).

This was my 2nd order with them and their shipping is lightning fast. Check out and like the Fancy Gloss Facebook page and Instagram as well to see the new shades coming out and for more swatches. And now, you can purchase through Llarowe.com!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Pattern on Pattern: Day 1 - Toile on Stripes

This post contains:
and
Purchased by Me items

It's time for another Digit-al Dozen Week!! The theme for this month is Pattern on Pattern. So for my first mani I have a simple freehand striped pattern with floral stamping to create a toile or china pattern look.

The Digit-al Dozen - Pattern on Pattern

I started with a base of KBShimmer Eyes White Open from the Spring 2015 Collection (sent for review) and used acrylics for the blue stripes. The stamping was done with Nails Inc. Tudor Way (purchased by me) and Konad M-71 plate. Those of you who know me know that I can't stamp to save my life. And while this isn't great for the stampers, for me it's positively outstanding!

KBShimmer Spring 2015 Collection PRESS RELEASE

Press Release
*These products are Cruelty Free

Are you ready for SPRING? I'll have swatches of these for you Sunday or Monday (Feb. 1 or 2) but in the mean time, here is something to use to add to your wish list!

KBShimmer Spring 2015 Collection

The line of 12 new seasonal and holiday inspired polishes and vinyl will launch February 6, 2015 and retail individually for $8.75 (polish) and $5 (vinyl).

“There’s nothing better than the first signs of Spring and all the joy that it brings! Our Spring 2015 collection is inspired by sun-kissed days and lush gardens blooming, the Easter season, and Pantone’s 2015 Spring color, Aquamarine,” says KBShimmer owner Christy Rose. “What better way to celebrate that Spring has sprung than with creamy pastels, metallic glitters, and a touch of sparkle and shine?”

Eyes White Open: A white creme with two coat coverage; a staple color for any girl’s nail polish collection.

Meow Or Never: Based on the Pantone spring color Glacier Gray, this polish is a very pale gray, almost white in color with pops of purple, gray, periwinkle and sky blue.

Sweet Egg-scape: A pale, bubblegum pink polish. Glitters like, pastel aqua star glitters, coral triangles, lavender dots, red squares and silver holo hexes swim among the pink base like a decorated Easter egg.

Blush Money: Based on the 2015 Pantone Color, Strawberry Ice, this peachy-rose colored polish shows off gold shimmer indoors and a linear holographic rainbow shines while outside.

To Peach His Own: This pale peach polish shines with holographic glitters in lime green, gold, violet and magenta.

Ins and Sprouts: Like a new bud popping through the soil, this pale green citron colored polish is alive with linear holographic shine.

Cool Hand Cuke: This pale minty green polish is loaded with pastel glitters in circles, triangles, stars and hexes. A touch of holographic sparkle completes this pastel polish.

Funky Cold Patina: Like a long forgotten ancient copper statue turned blue green in color, this polish features a cool turquoise green base, with pops of metallic copper, blue and purple.

Wind Swarm: Based on the Spring 2015 Pantone color, Aquamarine, Wind Swarm features a pale sky blue base, a mix of purple, gold, white and pink glitters, while a hint of micro glitter offers a bit of sparkle to enjoy in the sun.

Blue-d Lines: Pale blue in color, this cool toned polish shines with linear holographic sparkle.

Thistle Be The Day: A pale pinkish purple that shines in the sun with a linear holographic rainbow.

I’m So Sweet Pea: The palest of purples bases set off an explosion of glitters in pink, mint, purple and turquoise.
