Weekend Bits and Bobs: June 22, 2014 - Playing Catch-Up

Nothing to Disclose

Well, it's been a MONTH since I did a Bits and Bobs post. Life...what're ya gonna do?

So as you can imagine, this is all just going to be SO random, which I guess is what Bits and Bobs is all about anyway.

I didn't grow up in the cell phone generation so there are so many times when it doesn't occur to me to take a pic. Sometimes it's all I can do to remember to wear pants (and for you UK readers, no NOT those sort of pants - I mean trousers!) so remembering that I have a camera handy at all times doesn't always happen. Another reason I'm not the best at IG, but I'm trying!

Continued after the jump...

I did some traveling (nothing great like Scotland or anything...just day/weekend trips) and thought this place I had breakfast was adorable! Like something out of the past.

Decatur, Texas

And La Grange, Texas has THE cutest town square ever! There's an internet cafe right on the square called Latte on the Square. Good coffee and a good view.

Yes, La Grange was made famous (or is that infamous?) by The Chicken Ranch - aka The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Hahaha!

And speaking of coffee...got a couple of metal signs that just "spoke to me. LOL!

Did some cooking...well I do that every day, but these are the times I remembered to take a pic...and I see a very disturbing pattern.

Icebox cheesecake

Homemade Chicken and Dumplings (flat or "slick" Mmmm)

Fried potatoes

Lasagne

I'm not sure what all the "white foods" talk is about but I'm pretty sure it's not the greatest diet and it certainly appears that I favor ALL THE WHITE FOODS! I think I showed you biscuits and gravy in the last Bits and Bobs post.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I was digging around in one of my closets for something and ran across this. It's a "cigar box purse" I made a long time ago!

I used to do "crafty" stuff like that all the time! Not so much lately.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

And I had lots of repairs so my wallet is busy right now having a nervous breakdown. The central AC went out to the tune of over $800 and in the SAME WEEK the fridge went out. That was just over $300 to repair plus the over $1k worth of red snapper I had in the freezer. AND transmission troubles with the car. That was a rough week. But it could always be worse so I try to look at the positive side of things. I HAVE air conditioning and a decent fridge. And while I didn't want to spend the money, I actually had it. That hasn't always been the case so I'm always grateful for things like that.

Repairs cause quite a mess in a galley kitchen...the house isn't big - about 1800 sq ft - you'd think though, that the builders could have found more than 4 square feet for the kitchen. And yet they managed to cram in 36 cabinets and about 3 miles of counter space. I guess when you think about it, it's like a TARDIS kitchen!

I'm pretty sure the repair guy (sticking out of the freezer in that pic) had no idea I was taking a photo of his rear. LOL!

But I had to laugh through it all - this was the sign at the repair shop where I had the car worked on...

I don't blame them a bit!

There were other fun times too, though...doggie joie de vivre!

There's nothing better for your morale than doggie happiness. And nothing better for giving you an attitude adjustment when you need it.

And fun times with family...my granddaughter and her awesome boyfriend (who watches Top Gear too)! I'm looking quite the worse for wear though - haggard!

And then we had dinner at Virginia's on the Beach in Port Aransas...

Crab Legs - YUMMM!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is how my nail mail happens...100 degree heat at high noon and I find this. Happens pretty often if I don't hear the HONK and go out and get it from him. Or if I'm out running errands. But I guess it's better than a notice and having to drive to the PO to pick it up. I just try to check often, especially in the summer.

Speaking of mail...I picked this up a month or so ago - it's a really cute flat wallet that drew me in because of all the great colors - plus I hate folding wallets and fat ones. Space for 10 cards (6 showing here and 4 more on the inside) and an open slot for cash. Best part? Regular $20 and on sale now for $6.99. There aren't many colors left last I checked so I don't know if they're discontinuing or what. Ily Couture is the name of the company and the shipping was fast.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went to a party at one of my best friends' house the other night and saw that she still has a couple of my paintings hanging in her house!

I was so honored!

Speaking of paintings, I don't think I've shown you many of them, so here's one of the rarer "realism" ones. (I mostly do abstract.) A landscape...

That one's hanging in my hallway.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been having the BEST, most wonderfully scented baths lately because of THIS stuff, and sorely needed if I do say so...

Pineapple is my favorite scent EVER and it's so hard to find just plain pineapple without other scents blended in...my friend Cas over at Wishful Bath & Beauty makes this stuff and it's amazing. I'll have a review up soon for you. I just told her what I wanted to spend and had her pick a bunch of stuff for me to try - all in pineapple of course (which is called Nectarous in her shop) and so far I love everything.

Well, that's about all I have for now...that I can remember.

So that just leaves my favorite mani - usually it's "of the week" but since it's been a while I'm doing my favorite mani of the month, which has to be the Monet Water Lilies one I did for The Lacquer Legion's Garden Theme.

Well, I can't promise I'll be back next week with another Bits and Bobs post because life has been, um...unpredictable lately. But I hope you have a fantastic week!

Ta!

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!
