Adopt a Shelter Dog - Nail Art and Doggie Spam!

Nothing to Disclose

Getting together with several bloggers to do a special post on something very close to my heart. Pet adoption. So we've all done pet-inspired manicures!

Here's mine.

Thanks to Kelly over at Set in Lacquer for the inspiration!

Those who know me know I probably love most dogs better than most people. I'm a strong advocate of adopting a pet rather than buying from pet stores and I urge ANYONE who is thinking of getting a pet to check into adoption first. I do know a few (and by few I mean FEW) reputable dog breeders who love their dogs as much as I love mine and take extra special care, not only with their own dogs, but to insure that the puppies go to wonderful, loving, appropriate homes. But unless you know one of these rare people in person, PLEASE adopt!

I'd like to refer you to my earlier post called Dogs Deserve Better. Not everyone is cut out for having a dog. But if you are and you know everything having a dog entails, please PLEASE do your research and pick a dog to love who fits into your family and lifestyle. And ADOPT if you can!

I think dogs are the most loving, pure-of-heart bundles of joy ever put on this planet and whatever you give to them is returned ten-fold.

Here are my two bundles of pure, unconditional love, Twinks and Murphy...

Twinks

Murphy

Murphy was abandoned, his paws were shredded, he weighed less than 45 pounds (he's almost 100 pounds now!), his tongue was cut, he was so sick he was near death. He was scared to death of anything with a handle like a broom or mop. He's a happy, healthy boy now - SO sweet and loving and just the best dog. They both bring me so much joy every single day and I can't imagine not having them.

  2. These are terrific links--great information. I also think prospective dog moms and dads should read up on the incredible creatures that are joining their family. Some books you (and others) might like are The Other End of the Leash by Patricia McConnell, The Genius of Dogs by Brian Hare and Inside of a Dog by Andrea Horowitz. These books provide current science based insight into dog/human interaction and counters some of the mythology one sees in the popular press.

    1. I know a mani doesn't seem like it helps, but the more people who are made to think about this even a little - well you just never know. THANKS for reading! ♥
