piCture pOlish Blogfest 2013 is HERE!!! I was so excited and honored to be able to participate in their annual Blogfest again this year. They did change it up on us a bit this year though. NAIL ART! Well I can tell you I felt more than a little trepidation over that little tidbit. And the tutorial. Well, you'll just have to be my "guinea pigs" on the tutorial thing!
This year their theme is Year of the Blogger and it's a celebration of bloggers and what we do. Um...YAY!
And the best part? Three lucky and talented people from the list of blogger participants will be chosen to create their own color for piCture pOlish in 2014!
Here's how they will be chosen:
1 x Award - as voted by PP friends and fans
1 x Award - as voted by the blogger participants of Blog Fest 2013 (that's ME!)
1 x Award - as voted by Jules & Megs of piCture pOlish
Here's the link to the Pinterest BlogFest board.
Unfortunately, since I got to create a shade for 2013 (piCture pOlish FOCUS by Pointless Cafe), I am not in the running, but I am so thrilled for those who are and can't wait to see who they will be and what magnificence they will create!
Okay so let's get to mine!
I received Whimsy, Peaches n' Cream and Shocked as my three shades for the challenge. And what a challenge it was. I just couldn't figure in my head how these colors were going to work together. But try I did and this is what I came up with...
Continued after the jump...
My shades...
I decided since Fishtails/Braids are pretty easy and don't take any special tools (well they don't the way I do them) it would be a good tutorial to attempt.
First, polish your nails with the base color(s) you're using and let dry completely. Second, I use a top coat to make it easier to correct if I make a mistake - so it takes off the top coat and not the base color. I use the polish brushes for fishtails/braids instead of my other nail art brushes.
As I do each stripe, I layer over into the previous one to get the width I want. Works better with opaque colors obviously. And it doesn't matter how messy you get at the bottom because you'll be painting over it. My kind of "nail art!" Just keep layering until you run out of nail. Works on short and long nails!
Not perfect, but cute as can be and I always get tons of compliments on my fishtails/braids because it looks way harder than it is.
Thanks for stopping by! Please be sure and check the other Blogfest 2013 manis in the InLinkz section below!

Beautiful manicure!! I love how Shocked looks different depending on which polish it's layered over!! Gorgeous!
