Chanel FNO 2012 Provocation, Infidele and Delicatesse

I interrupt this 30 Day Challenge to show you my new lovelies I received today, the Chanel FNO 2012 polishes! Woot!

Chanel FNO 2012

Just a warning, this post is very pic heavy. I've seen some bottle shots of these that vary greatly as well as swatches that vary greatly. The more photos I viewed, the more I kept asking myself what color ARE they? So now that I see them in person, I wanted to TRY and show them in various lighting situations so you can really see what color you think they are. There is quite a bit of difference in all of them depending on the light. At the end, I'll show you some comparisons.

So let's get started!

First up, here they all are together - Provocation on my pinky and index fingers, Infidele on my ring finger and Delicatesse on my middle finger.

Indoors, strong artificial lighting

So, let's take a look at them individually...

First up, Provocation. Chanel describes it as “A deep, rich plum offers an elegant accent for a refined, resolutely stylish nail look.” That's a pretty good description. In full sun you can see the brown undertones, but it's definitely plum and it's definitely rich. Application was very smooth and creamy and it's actually a one-coater! No issues with this one. For the photos I did use two coats of color and NO top coat and I did not color-alter the photos in any way.

Next up Infidele. This one is described by Chanel as  “An intense, energetic pink dresses the fingertips in brilliantly bold colour for an effortlessly feminine effect.” I'm going to disagree a bit on this one. I'd call this a muted dusty mauve. I wanted it to be an intense, energetic pink, but it just isn't except in certain light. I had to try really hard to find any sort of lighting, natural or artificial that showed it off as such. In most lighting, it's mauve. Sorry! Application was great on this one too. Sometimes Chanel is hit and miss with formula - for me anyway, but all three of these are excellent. This one is opaque in two coats and is a self-leveling creme. I used two coats of color and NO top coat for all photos and I did not color alter any of them.

And finally we have Delicatesse. Chanel describes this as an “elegant shade of beige offers a stroke of sophistication for nails in a long-wearing, high-shine lacquer.” To me this is a medium-to-dark pinky-beige with orange undertones. It's almost like a toffee color. It's a smooth creme that is opaque in two coats and goes on, like the others, very nicely. I had no issues with this one either. I used two coats of color and NO top coat and did not color-alter anything.

So what do you think? I don't love them like I did Les Khakis a few years back, but I do like them better than Les Jeans last year. When I first saw them, I thought well, they're not that unique. I'm sure I have dupes in my stash. I was wrong! I did my best to find some dupes (and I have a LOT of polish) and I really couldn't. I couldn't even find anything similar to Delicatesse to do a comparison for you. I did pull out a few for the other two though. But no dupes!

Here are a few comparisons with Provocation and Infidele...

Well that's all I have for now! Will you be getting these?

I am not near a Chanel Boutique so I pre-ordered mine from chanel.com. These retail for $26 per bottle and shipping was free.

  5. I need to get Provocation for sure. It sucks living in Europe, though, we get them so late. The fall colors aren't even here yet!

  6. What an incredible post! Thank you for all the effort you put in, must have taken you ages! They are pretty, but not ground-breaking really are they? Still, I think I'll check them out in person and see how they look on my digits... you never know!

  7. they are all beautiful but Provocation is my favorite and I need it!! I have a Chanel boutique in town but the shop is currently closed for repair. They moved it a a luxury department store but they didn't bring the make up corner (according to what the SA said). They just have the make up corner from the dpt store which doesn't carry the exclusive...it's a bit strange!! maybe I'll try another way to get it!

  9. Oh, Provocation...how I love the... Gorgeous work as always, and thanks for the dupe check. Twenty six bucks is steep only to find out you've already got a perfectly good dupe.

  14. Hi! I'm looking for a Zoya version (or OPI) of Chanel distraction.
I have been looking and I think it could be Zoya Maya, but not so sure since I can't swatch them in person.
could you help me please? :) <3
