NOTD: Water Marble with butter LONDON Teetotal

I got adventurous last night and decided to try water marbling again. I had been wearing butter LONDON Teetotal, a yummy chocolatey brown creme and I prefer to start with a colored base and use a clear polish as one of my marbling polishes. It just feels easier that way to me.

Here's what happened...

And here was the base...butter LONDON Teetotal.

It's a little messy, but I didn't hate it. I actually loved the colors together.  I used Kiko #402 (pink holo), Milani White on the Spot and Color Club Clear over butter LONDON Teetotal.

What do you think?

Doctor Who? Goodbye Amy and Rory

Okay so this doesn't have a thing to do with nail polish, but most of you know I'm a huge Doctor Who fan.

I just have to get this rant out, though. And it does NOT contain what I would call "spoilers" if you haven't seen it.

I'm just NOT a happy camper. I've had my "fights" with Doctor Who in the past, swearing never to watch again. But I've always loved him. There'd never been any REAL danger of me leaving him. And it was never for the same reasons I'm feeling now. It was usually because I didn't want to be without him for so long. I've always been able to turn off logic and let it wash over me. I didn't need it all to make sense all the time.

But this was just different.

As I was trying to fall asleep, my brain kept picking it apart. I found myself needing certain things to make better sense than they did, trying to rewrite it for him and not really liking The Doctor being so helpless and clingy and emotionally unstable. MY Doctor would have never behaved that way and MY Doctor would have been able to fix it... or at least made it easier to swallow. MY Doctor would have been the strong one that selflessly gave them up. He would not have been the Doctor I saw in this episode.

MY Doctor, though he has his weaknesses, (just enough, but not too many so that he's so, um HUMAN) is always going to be the strong one, the one with the universe of knowledge and wisdom and good judgment. Angels Take Manhattan did not have MY Doctor in it at all.

And right or wrong, I will always associate this Doctor with Matt Smith. For the first time in my life, I'm ready for a new Doctor before we're given one. And I realize it's NOT Matt Smith, it's the writers. Matt Smith has actually done quite a good job with what he's been given. But right now I've reverted to a foot-stomping, tantrum-throwing 8 year old and I may need quite a long "time out" before I get over it.

Nail Polish Storage and Collection 2.0

I figured it was time to update my storage and collection page, but I've been waiting until I got everything put away. I realized that's never going to happen. So this is without about 50 - 75 polishes that are always somewhere else - collections I'm swatching, new stuff that hasn't been put away, etc. But this will have to do for now.

Since I still haven't gotten around to building the other shelves or clearing up wall space to hang them, I went looking for something else and I found these great little wire racks for $6.95 each at Walmart in the bath section! I cut out little pieces of lightweight cardboard (actually I cut up those priority mail envelopes from the USPS that were sent to me by mistake when I ordered the flat rate bubble mailers) to line the bottoms and the worked out great!

So here are just some photos of my storage and collection...

30 Day Challenge Day 30 - TUTORIAL INSPIRATION

The LAST DAY!!!!!!!  Woot! (Well sort of...I haven't decided if I can do the original "Day 31" Recreate a Mani - this one sort of fills both days anyway because it is a re-creation of the tutorial I used down to the colors - minus the ChG Fairy Dust.)

So for day 30, I have done a plastic wrap (or Saran Wrap) manicure inspired by Mich at The Polish Well - tutorial here. You may recognize this as it was what I used under my Day 12 and Day 14 challenges. I'm such a cheater!

I normally don't have clean up with straight, plain manis so I kinda suck at it. I actually did think I cleaned up but it's obvious from the photos now that I failed. Apologies.

Jindie Nails Zomboy - Swatches and Review

Halloween!!!!!!! I have another Jindie Nails "Hellaween" polish for you today...Zomboy.

Zomboy is a deep purple jelly with royal blue and berry glitter & color shifting glitter - it can be worn on its own an builds nicely. I'd say 3-4 coats alone. I prefer 100% opaque so I've layered it over Zoya Mira for the photos. This one was my favorite so far. Application was easy. I had no trouble getting the glitters out and they spread perfectly on the nail. Everything laid flat and one coat of Poshe made it smooth to the touch.

Jindie Nails Water 4 Elephants - Swatches and Review

I've been on a grey kick lately and I have a great grey crelly from Jindie Nails to show you tonight...Water 4 Elephants!

Water 4 Elephants has multiple shapes and sizes of blue and green along with color shifting glitter and color shifting sparkle pigment all in a gray crelly base. According to Jindie Nails, there are also some "dark green metallic squares that have what's called reflective curling. They do not curl up all the way, just a little. I have had them in polish base for over 2 months and so far they've only started to curl a little. They are still solvent resistant and do lie flat on the nail but I just want to be clear about everything in the polish. If you'd like a bottle without the green squares, I can make it for you, just ask. I think it looks great with the green squares in it."

This is 3 coats of Water 4 Elephants with one coat of Poshe Top Coat. Application was easy and I had no trouble getting the glitters out and they spread nicely on the nail. I didn't personally experience any of the green square glitter pieces the maker mentioned curling on me. I now see in the photos (on my pinky nail) there is one that looks like it's curling but I can assure you is was suspended in the polish and did not stick up on the nail.

30 Day Challenge - Day 29 SUPERNATURAL INSPIRATION

I'm a huge Twilight Zone fan so this one was a no-brainer - especially since I've already done Doctor Who. I've probably seen every single episode at least 8 or 10 times and I still watch some of them again when they air the Twilight Zone marathons on the holidays.

Twilight Zone Manicure for SUPERNATURAL Inspiration Day

Sorry about my lack of clean up. I actually THOUGHT I did clean up until I saw this enlarged. LOL! I rarely ever need to do clean up so I'm clearly not good at it.

Yes I even took a pic of Rod Serling's star. That's Twinks ♥
